What Is The Knot Around My Thumb?

I am in Jujitsu and when I did a side punch and the person blocked, I immediately got a knot. It turned bluish and I've had this knot for almost 2 weeks and it's still there, same size, and all. Accationaly, when I use it often, it starts to hurt on and around the bump. When I move my thumb, it's a bit tender as well. Barely touching the top of the bump hurts bad. What is this?

Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal, MD.

Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query

I would suggest an MRI of the thumb. The likely possibility is that you have managed to develop a vascular knob. Now this will take delicate maneuvering to release it. However to confirm the diagnosis, I would suggest an MRI first, and of course a visit to the orthopedician

I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above/if any other so I can be of help further.

I have given you the answer to the maximum considering the information provided. The results of the tests could further enhance my answer to you.

Please do understand that some details could be extracted from a detailed history and examination.

Please feel free to ask another query. I would be glad to help you. Looking forward to your return query with the details asked so that I can help you further.
