The combined oral contraceptive pills like Ovral-G may be taken as long as you wish to avoid pregnancy or you have reached menopause. The common side effects of these pills include headache, weight gain, pimples, high blood pressure, risk of clot formation in the veins, mood changes, breast tenderness, irregular or breakthrough bleeding and swelling the feet.
