What Is The Difference Between Tamsulosin Hydrochloride-SR And Flomaxtra?

Is there any difference between TAMSULOSIN HYDROCHLORIDE 400mcg SR tabs and FLOMAXTRA 400mcg PROLONGED RELEASE TABLETS. I have been taking the SR tabs for 10 days and fell a lot of weakness, back pain, tooth/jhaw pain and insomnia. I have taken Flomaxtra tabs previously, 12 months ago, and did not suffer any of theside effects described.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

There is no difference between these two. Both Tamsulosin-SR and Flomaxtra-PR contain the same medicine tamsulosin which is an alpha adrenergic blocker commonly prescribed to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). If you can not tolerate tamsulosin-SR tablet you may switch over to flomaxtra-PR after consulting your doctor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
