there can be two type of claudication. One in vasclar. It is common due to deposition of cholesterol in the vessels and it can cause such pain. Pain of vascular claudication occurs when some one walks and not present when you are standing.
Neural claudiacation occurs when there is nerve compression in the spine and it causes pain in calf and leg but it is also present when you are standing .
So apart from getting Doppler I would also suggest you to get a MRI of the spine. This will tell us if there is any nerve compression is present or not. Accordingly further management can be planned.
