What is the cause of mouth breathing?

When my daughter gets excited she seems to breathe through her mouth deeply it makes a high pitched intake sound and results in coughing. It seems to be happening more and more frequently and is branching out to when she breathes through her mouth period

Better consult ENT specialist.
