What Is The Cause Of Excessive Pain In Arm?

My shoulders have been killing me lately and Ive not been doing any lifting. I am used to sleeping on my arms but now if I do in the morning I will barely be able to move it. It hurts most when I bend my elbow or lift my arm above my head. Its in the upper but the back part of my shoulders. Both of the seem to do it at the same time.

Hello,

It is possible that you have injured the rotator cuff of your shoulder. I would suggest resting it for a few weeks. Ice the shoulders as well. If it persists, you can have some imaging done (ultrasound or MRI) to assess the extent of damage and see if you need any interventions to fix it.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
