What Is The Cause For Several Hypo Echoic Areas On Placenta?
Hello my daughter had her 2o week scan, she was asked to come back in six weeks to check if baby is growing ok. Her notes says several hypoechoic areas on placenta , we have looked everywhere but cannot find a definitive answer to what it really means . can you help.
Usually hypoechoic areas on placenta have no issue if they are present after 25 weeks. But if they appear prior to 20-25 weeks. More numerous than expected (expect 3-4 hypoechoic areas). They are larger than normal (normally 2 cm) concern should arise.
Wait until she will do another ultrasound examination to determine that these hypoechoic lesions are are not significant for placental issue.
All the best
