Dr. Weil appears to be against testing the urine and saliva for nuerotransmitters. Is there any point in being tested for nuerotransmitters and if so what is (are ) the best test(s) for doing so. I have food intolerance and become itchy, depreesed, anxious, fearful after eating. thank you Dr. Rynne, Darryl

Hi I did review your concern.
There is no best clinical method to test for neurotransmitter as it is still in research phase. We can at best test for metabolites in urine like vanyl mandelic acid(VMA) for patients with suspected pheochromocytoma.
Your food intolerance can be due to milk or gluten allergy and the resulting anxiey and fear is due to the reaction you have been having.
I would recommend testing for malabsorption and celiac disease.
I hope this helps
Wish you all the best
