Hello. Thanks for writing to us at healthcaremagic
The cream you have been using contains Clindamycin+
Adapalene combination, which is an effective antiacne preparation.
However, adapalene which is a topical
retinoid has inherent irritant potential and can cause skin peeling and redness, specially early into therapy and in those who have a sensitive skin. This is called "retinoid dermatitis".
I would suggest that you discontunue it temporarily and let the irritation subside. You may use a non-comedogenic moisturizer if there is excessive skin peeling.
Once the dermatitis resolves, you may restart it and initially use it for just 2 hours every night till tolerance develops Or use it every alternate night for a few days till the skin gets used to it.
Moreover topical treatment alone is sometimes not effective on its own to take complete control of acne activity.
In such cases,
Oral antibiotics are usually also combined with topical anti-acne treatment. Commonly prescribed oral antibiotics in acne are either Doxycycline,
Azithromycin Or
Minocycline.
I would suggest that you seek another appointment with your
dermatologist. Your dermatologist would definitely contemplate starting an oral treatment along with topical clindamycin+adapalene combination and might add another topical (e.g topical
nadifloxacin gel or clindamycin gel) too for day time use for faster improvement
