Although HIV has no cure till date and though stage 4 disease in HIV is an advanced disease the prognosis is never hopeless especially in an era where there are several good quality anti HIV medicines. In this stage there are high chances of other so called opportunistic infections which should be treated aggressively. I would suggest you follow the advices given by the HIV specialist you are consulting. Please do not loose hope. Wish your mother get well soon.
