What Is Causing My Son S Inability To Suck Or Eat?

My nine month old boy has been a good eater but for the past few days he s not eating well. He would take a few bites and then stops. And then he would just not gulp the food down, and doesnt open his mouth for the next one. This is very annoying coz i just cant force him to eat. I have tried giving him new foods everyday but no improvement. Today i noticed, he could not suck his bottle properly. He would take a few sips n take it out again in and out. Same thing he did while he was taking my breastmilk. I found it strange as he never did this before. His nose in not blocked. Please help as he s not taking enough and his diapers are not full like before.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

From your history, he may be having a mouth and tongue sores. Check his mouth properly for any sores or thrush. If you treat them accordingly then he will eat the food.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajmohan, Pediatrician
