What Is A Painful Swelling In The Knee Post An Injury Suggestive Of?
I fell 2 weeks ago and hit my head should and knees. One knee got a rug burn, the other looked fine in the emergency room. They took an exray of the one with the abrasion, but would not take one of the other knee, even though I told them it was the one that hurt, because there seemed to be no swelling or obvious injury. Now 2 weeks later I have a goose egg on top of that knee and can t kneel down on it. It is getting more difficult to bend. Do I need to go to a doctor? I have an appointment this week with my neurologist as a follow up, but I don t know if he will know about what to do about it or if I should go ahead and make an appointment with another kind of doctor.

Knee injury after a hit and showing a swelling on top which is producing painful bending. Definitely It ought to be injury to knee. Suggestively injury grading from just a blood collection to injury to knee cap.
- In this context you need to consult an Orthopedic surgeon who would examine you physically and get you investigated by suitable imaging investigations (like X ray/ Ct scan or MRI ). After pin pointing exact grade of injury specific treatment would be offered to relieve you of the problem.
- Till then, take rest. Eat light nutritious food. Do not massage the knee, cold packs would help. You can take pain medicine like Brufen over the counter to reduce pain.
