What Is A Blackish Bump Around The Rectum Suggestive Of?

My boyfriend had a bump by his rectum that was blackish/ brown. It was too deep to just pop. So I clipped it with a toenail clipper. That wasn t enough to break through the skin howeverone layer seperated but there was one still over the bump. After I clipped it one more time, this clump of whatever ( It was bloody ) came right out without squeezing . What could that be from ?

Hi,

This "bump" could be a whole lot of things, from harmless like a hemorrhoid or a "blood blister" to an infected wart or an irritated mole. There also need to be considered the possibility of something malignant (cancerous), like a melanoma.

I strongly suggest that your boyfriend see his family physician or dermatologist to look at the bump, if it is still there, and either treat it or refer you to the proper specialist for biopsy and treatment. I certainly would not let it go undiagnosed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Christine Sauer
