Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,
Dicyclomine, is an anticholinergic and used to treat intestinal hyper motility and the symptoms of
irritable bowel syndrome (also known as spastic colon).
It relieves muscle spasms and cramping in the gastrointestinal tract by blocking the activity of acetylcholine on cholinergic (or muscarinic) receptors on the surface of muscle cells. So,It is a smooth
muscle relaxant.
I really doubt that dicyclomine can also be effective in the treatment of
interstitial cystitis (UTI) unless you have some gastrointestinal symptoms. So there is no point in the discussion of its dosage.
You need to be detailed medical history and thoroughly clinical examination by a
urologist to get ruled out any other urinary pathology apart from infection.
You might require antibiotics (quinolones specially levofloxacin in high dose or amixocillin with
clavulanic acid) to combat urinary infection completely with other symptomatic treatment like analgesics,anti-inflammatory etc.
You can also take Tab.Elmiron 100 mg but after consulting your doctor.
It would be best to find an urologist in Poland for further treatment immediately and till the time take OTC pain killers.
Thanks
