What Does Weakness In The Arm Suggest?

I have weakness in my left arm. Not numb, just weak. At the same time I was having a lot of pain / discomfort in the lower part of my neck (more like between the top of my shoulder blades). I did no connect the two symptoms. After about 2 weeks, my left shoulder has started hurting and throbbing some, but the main problem is that my shoulder, shoulder blade and collarbone are all snapping, popping and grinding LOUDLY. It is not anything I MAKE it do; any movement of my left arm makes that noise. I saw my pcp, who did an x-ray and he said it looks like the scapula is disconnected somehow, so he sent me for an mri. The tech said he couldn t really tell me anything except he saw a lot of fluid. I have no idea how this happened: no injuries, falls, accidents....nothing. Now I have to wait until next week to see my doctor and get the results, so I am going crazy. Any thoughts?

Hello,

You have weakness in your left arm associated with pain and discomfort. You had an X-ray done and MRI shows fluid. You are suggested to give rest to your shoulder and hand, do not unnecessarily strain it. Since you were having severe pain, it may be indicative of disconnection, degenerative joint disorders such as arthritis and labral tears.

Other medical conditions with similar symptoms are rotator cuff tears, injuries to the biceps tendon or damage to the glenoid labrum. Fluid in the MRI may indicate bursitis / subacromial bursitis. You are suggested to get it treated at the earliest. In the meantime, you can take NSAIDS, Combiflam, one SOS when pain after food. Applying pain relieving sprays (Volini) in the affected area may help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
