What Does Tingling Sensation In The Upper Body Indicate?

My name is Bob. I from time to time feel tingling over the upper part of my body very similar to pins and needles . This sensation lasts for 15-30 seconds but never longer than maybe 1 minute. It can come at anytime, rest, watching TV, driving, etc. Check up in the ER said it was possibly a low potassium level but it was only about 1 to 2 points low. Any ideas.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per my clinical experience, the tingling in upper body if persist after correction of potassium level require in depth evaluation for possible cervical canal region compression of the nerves. In that case, you have to discuss the need of MRI spine to locate the cause and manage accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
