Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Received test results from recent transabdominal transvaginal pelvic ultrasound. I am 67 yrs old and ultrasound was done because I had some vaginal spotting. it was determined that I have an endometrial stripe complex that measures 5mm. There is no endometrial mass or abnormal vascularity but 3 uterine myomas have been identified. The doctor wants to perform a biopsy but I am unsure. What would be the next step as I want non-invasive treatment.
Hello and thanks for posting in HCM. Uterine myomas means some growth in the uterine walls whose cause is unknown. Now these growths can be just infection related or cancerous. There are 2 types of cancer. Benign which is harmless and other is malignant which can be life threatening. So to differentiate between harmful and harmless the biopsy is necessary. Because if its harmless it can be left alone but if found malignant then removal will be required. So its better to undergo the biopsy and get to know the nature of the myomas. I hope this advice helps. Thank you
