General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The report shows a hole in the wall that connects the atriums of the heart (the upper chambers). Your daughter has a slightly dilated right lower chamber that may be caused due to increased blood pressure due to more blood coming in the upper right chamber through the hole.

Normally, foramen secundum should close soon after birth. If it persists beyond this period treatment (surgery) may be needed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
