What Does This Blood Test Report Of A Child Indicate?

Hi, I have a 3 and 1/2 month male baby, who has been on exclusive breast feeding from birth. However for last 7 days, he has been refusing to suck breast and only taking expressed breast milk with lot of effort and persuasion. Although for last 2 days, he has started sucking only in sleep. My paed asked to do a blood test where lymphocyte count has come as 84% and peripheral blood smear study shows lymphotoic leukocytosis. His haemoglobin is 12.5 gm/ dl and ESR has been found to be normal. He is normally playful and agile but cries when we try to feed expressed breast milk. Kindly advice possible causes, action and if this is cause for concern

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to hcm,
Your child report suggests there could be some viral infection. Because of that your child might be irritable and refusing to take feeds. Viral infections needs just symptomatic treatment and will subside itself. So you need not worry your child will improve fast.

Thank you
