What Does This Blood Test Finding Indicate?

Hi, I have a few questions about the results of some blood tests i recently had done. My iron and iron saturation were high (iron 31.9 umol/L and iron sat 0.59)but my TIBC was normal (the doctor did not do a ferritin test). I know i have had normal results in a previous test.. So could i possibly have hemocromatosis? or what else could it mean. I also had EBV tests done. EBNA IgG Ab was negative, EBV IgM was negative, and VCA IgG was positive. this confuses me as most people show EBNA+ and VCA IgG + for previous infection, and EBV IgM+ and VCA IgG+ for acute illness. Twice before doctors told me i had mono even though my test was negative but they were sure I had it even with negative results (i was never truly convinced that I had it the first time, but the 2nd time i was sick for months. So Im just wondering why I m only VCA IgG + ? Just an fyi I was sick with a flu about 2-3 weeks ago (fatigue+++, fever, swollen glands, chills, sweating). On a chart I looked at being just VCA IgG + could mean either previous or current infection. please give me your insight on this. other blood tests done were TSH which was high 4.55mIU/L but freeT4 was normal. creatinine, random glucose, B12, cortisol am & pm were normal. CBCD was unremarkable with a Hemoglobin of 120g/L, the only thing that was low was the MPV(which i remember was low also last time i had blood work a few years ago. Here is my medical history. I have chronic sinusitis and had a rhino/septoplasty with turbinate reduction. I use a saline rinse with pulmacort (im supossed to use it daily but forget sometimes). I get sinus infections a lot and have a cough that wont go away)I had a CT scan of my sinuses and have a small ostoma in my frontal sinus that hasn t grown in the year since my previous ct. I have chronic mild inflammation of the bowel and acid reflux which I take tecta for. I m on anxiety medication prozac 20mg daily I tried going up to 40mg earlier this spring but had to decrease it back to 20mg due to very bad side effects (loud ringing in left ear, tremors, high pulse, dizziness). So my psychiatrist just started strattera to see if it helps ( she believes I have ADD, anxiety). I take flexeril at HS PRN due to jaw problems which when i saw a specialist diagnosed me with myofacial pain (my jaw cracks badly and i get horrible headaches, nausea, etc). I also have problems with extreme fatigue on and off. I am pretty much always tired but I will go through phases where i can barely function and sleep 15 + hours /day.I also have been noticing hip and knee pain more often on/off at night as of late. I have incredibly vivid dreams/nightmares every night and i wake up often. anyways I guess thats a lot of information lol, but i am tired of always feeling terrible and I seem to have infections/cold/flus way to often. oh and just an fyi I know I am HIV negative because i was tested for a year after a needle stick at work (I m a RN). Oh and I am a 33 year old female. I also used to work out but don t have the energy anymore. I have gained 30lbs in the last year but am only slightly over weight (im 5 10 and 180lbs).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Anti-U1-RNP, and anti-U1 70kd antibodies, anti CCP, ana, in your case throat culture must be done. These can help in diagnosis and continue treatment as you already are taking it. Do RFT tests before. It is a must. Then if those are normal then prescription of meds for your treatment is possible.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
