What Does This MRI Report Indicate?

I just picked up the results of my MRI. The impression states: uterine fundal mass extending into endometrial canal. Further workup is recommended to exclude malignant mass. Also Enlarged uterus with multiple leiomyomas, some of which are submucosal. I thought an MRI could differentiate between fibroids and a malignant mass??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, my opinion is that MRI can't differentiate much between the fibroid and malignant mass. BIOPSY is must required. If that is found to be malignant, further FDG-PET-scan is done to identify areas where these malignancies may have gone in your body.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
