I have done a CT scan recently for my low right abdominal pain. The CT scan result come back as The small bowel is within normal caliber .My question is that: does that mean most likely I don t have small bowel cancer? How well does CT scan detect small bowel cancer?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there, yes it simply means the small bowel loops are with in normal limits so there is nothing to be afraid of.
A CT scan for Abdomen most likely detects abnormalities as any change in normal pattern will be hypo or hyperechogenic in the CT film.

Thanks

Regards
Dr Varun
