Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My grandpa had a CT, he was diagnosed as extensive consolidation posteriorly in the left lower lobe consistent with pneumonia. There s fibrocalcific change at the lung apices likely on the base of prior granulomatous infection . Is there a chance to develop to a cancer?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Present lesion in lungs seems clearly to be pneumonatic and previous lesion at apexes, was granulomatous infection causing old calcified scar. Granulomatous infiltration is from noncarcinomatoud tissue so your father has negligible chances of malignancy at present state.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
