What Does Thick Mucous Vaginal Discharge After Abortion Suggest?

Hi there, 6 weeks ago I had a termination of a pregnancy as the baby had a chromosome disorder. A significant part of the placenta was retained and I had s d and c 1 week ago. I am still passing a red very thick mucous like discharge and have abdominal pain and ocassional sharp stabbing pains in what feels like my vagina. I Sam dye back at work tomorrow and I gsve quite an active job. Are these symptoms normal it should I visit my gp? Is it better to wait until I feel better before work or should it be ok?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If you feel pain, visit a general physician. Doing USG will rule out and may need hormonal levels confirmation and infection should be ruled out otherwise, they need antibiotics too.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
