What Does The Following XRAY Report Analysis Indicate?

I have just had a chest x-ray and it shows an unfolding aorta. I has an echocardiogram and exercise stress test recently for chest discomfort but likely anxiety - this was all normal - nil of note. I do not have high blood pressure - mostly about 115/80. I the unfolding aorta something that will need investigating and are there consequences of this despite having good BP?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Unfolded aorta refers to the widened appearance of the aortic arch on a frontal chest radiograph.

It is one of the more common causes for apparent mediastinal widening and is seen with increasing age.

If the other parameters are normal there is no need for treatment.

I would recommend regular check-ups and to maintain under control the blood pressure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi,
