General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

With increasing age, there are changes in vital organs and their functions seen. When it comes to heart, TMT is used to check if there is any blockage in the coronary arteries which are essential for the proper functioning of the heart and its blood supply. As you said there is no chest pain but breathlessness and uneasiness experienced by your mother on exertion and all goes back to normal on rest after some time. Such symptoms with the TMT test results are highly suggestive of some coronary artery disease.

I would like to ask if your mother is on any antihypertensive drugs or any other drugs related to diseases like diabetes mellitus? The lipid profile values seem to be in the desirable range. So, I would suggest you visit a cardiologist with the test results and follow his advice on further appropriate management, as well as he might ask you to get some other diagnostic tests done if required to know the underlying cause for better understanding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Manisha Auradkar, General & Family Physician
