What Does The Following CT Scan Report Of Chest Indicate?
Hi, I had findings from my CT of my chest without intravenous contrast. The result was not discussed yet with my primary doctor. I want to understand the meaning of the findings before my scheduled appointment. There was a biapical pleural-parenchymal scarring of my lungs. There was a 6mm groundglass nodule in the superior segment of the left lower lobe. Is biopsy needed? By the way, I never smoke and currently I don t have the symptoms of lung cancer.
Biapical pleural-parenchymal scarring in the CT is indicative of lung pleura getting thickened & causing breathing difficulty or chest pain/discomfort.
Ground glass nodules in CT are lesions (fibrosis/nodules) that can be benign or malignant in nature. Yes, biopsy should be done to start the treatment at the earliest. It can be hemorrhage or inflammation also.
It is good to know that you don't smoke. Get all blood & Imaging tests done to detect any developing malignancy. Your treatment will depend upon your physical symptoms & also on the report of your biopsy. All the best.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
