What Does The Chest Pain On The Left Side Indicate?

Hi, I am a 40 year old male. I get a stabbing pain on the outer left side of my chest near my heart. It feels like a deep pain. Though this is just occasionally most of the time it s just a dull ache. The pain can be right across the chest. I get short of breathe and a tight restricting feeling in my chest. I get light headed sometimes to the point of nearly passing out. I feel nauseous and a burning pain across the whole chest which can radiate down my left arm. I have had 2 ecg s both coming up clear. My white blood cell count is up. After 18 months of continual tests after feeling a ripping sensation in my stomach while riding my bike I have recently been diagnosed with 2 hernias, one very low on the right hand side and one very small one near the belly button. I am a very fit person, who runs 5 kms 3 times a week, rides a bicycle twice a week and swims 40 laps once a week. The pain in my chest has been for over a month but has become quite debilitating in the last 2 weeks. The pain isn t just related to exercise I can get it just laying in bed. Any suggestion? Thanks Lee

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hi
it might be due to severe gastritis you may feel this type of symptoms. since you are confused better to take on ECG to rule out whether it is related to any issues in the heart. avoid taking spicy or oily foods and mostly junk foods and outside foods drink plenty of water and have a breakfast regularly without skipping it. have a nice day thank you.
