My daughter is about 19 years old and suffers from intermittent swelling of her body. A brief descript is as follows: Description of the disease: The body (face, hands, feet etc) of my daughter swells intermittently and can be noticed when keenly observed. This swelling could be for a short time such as 5 minutes or longer as for an hour or two. The frequency of swelling started some 2-3 years ago. Initially the frequency of swelling was about once a week and now has increased to almost every day or alternate day. History: When my daughter was about 4-5 years old, it was noticed that her heart palpitation increased all of sudden or when she ran. A number of heart specialists were consulted and it was diagnosed there was a small hole in her heart. According to the specialist the hole will automatically be closed at some stage at the age of 14 year or so. The specialist advised to take ¼ th of 10mg Anderal tablet per day. After using the tablet according to the advice for about one and a half year, this problem disappeared and now she does not feel any increase in heart palpitation. Another problem which she faces is that in winter when the temperature drops down to coldest, her fingers become cold, red and then sometimes becomes cracked at the finger joints. For this skin specialist advised to her to take care and protect the finger from cold by using gloves and socks which she does during the winter. A number of tests were carried by Hospitals in Islamabad Pakistan to diagnose the intermittent swelling of the body. These tests and their results are as follows. As discussed with you before, I will appreciate if you could please spare some time and go through these tests and suggest some medicine for its remedy. Over all condition of the Body: On over all, the child is healthy and feels no problem in any day to day activities. She eats regularly and in sufficient amount like healthy children. As a student, she is bright in her studies. Table 1.
