Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Tenderness On Both Sides Of The Neck Indicate?
My husband has tenderness on both sides of the neck. They also itch and there seems to be some swelling on one side of the neck. He has been taking dutasteride 0.5 mg. for enlarged prostate and stopped taking it when his breasts started growing. His mammogram was negative. He has an appt. with a urologist in mid-December. Is this swelling related to this medication?
I don't think the swelling is from the medication. I think he is having swollen lymph nodes on the neck. However it would be great if you could send a picture of the neck to see any changes on the skin.
Another problem could be dermatitis as reaction to any cosmetic or other irritant. I advise to apply calamine lotion when it feels itchy. Wait until urologist appointment. Then ask to get an appointment with dermatologist and ENT specialist to rule out related problems.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini,
