What Does Swelling On The Feet Indicate?

For the past three or four weeks I have been experiencing swelling on the bottom of my feet while I m sleeping, the past 4 nights I am experiencing, mostly on my right foot only, itching during the night. Yesterday and today are the first day when the itching has started during the day and I am itchy all over. I haven t changed soap or lotions and my eating habits are the same.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

In that case, it might be infection on your feet as you say. Swelling, itching or burning sensation, tenderness, redness, all can happen.

First, rule out if you had any trauma to the part. If you had prolonged immobilization hampering circulation then also you will have same symptoms with mediators causing the itch.

So, we need a detailed history to sort out what could be the etiology of your symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
