What Does Swelling In The Throat Indicate?

I have been taking pantoprazole for two weeks. Twice a day. I woke up this morning with a slightly swollen throat which is now more swollen. I have just taken the night time dose with a 2mg Valium and 2 Tylenol arthritis strength as prescribed by my doctor. Should be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Are you talking about reddish swelling at the back of the tongue, then these are enlarged tonsils. You need antibiotics such as tablet Amoxycillin, tablet Clavunate, and tablet Aceclofenac.

If you have a cold, then add decongestant drug. Also, steam inhalation is advised. As these are prescription drugs, please contact your local doctor so that he will prescribe these medicines.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Varinder Joshi
