What Does Sudden Loss Of Speech In An Elderly Person Indicate?

My mother. 81 years old. Good mental health. Type 1 diabetes since age 40. Yesterday had a 20 minute period where she could not say common words...could speak and was not confused but could not say words well. Sugar level was fine at the time. No other symptoms. No other acute physical problems. TIA?

Hello,
This does sound like a TIA. People having TIAs are at high risk for a stroke so get her to see her doctor as soon as possible.
Regards
