General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Sore rib can be due to reasons like any injury or hard cough or sneeze or acid peptic disease which might present as rib pain or other inflammatory conditions. If the pain is due to an injury, it might get relieved in 2-4 weeks.

Avoid heavy exercises and take adequate rest, take pain killers or a heating pad. Consult your doctor to find out the exact cause and further treatment. They might advise x-ray or ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thanks.
