Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does Solid Mass In The Breast Near The Nipple Indicate?
ULTRASOUND FINDINGS: Sonography was performed in the left breast in the upper outer quadrant in transverse and longitudinal planes. There is a solid mass measuring 15 x 10 x 5 mm in the left breast at 2 o clock. Internal echotexture is hypoechoic. This finding correlates to the palpable mass. This is located 2.6 cm from the nipple. The finding has mildly lobular margins and minimal vascularity. The patient was informed of the exam results. IMPRESSION: Solid mass in the left breast is suspicious. An ultrasound guided biopsy is recommended. BI-RADS Category 4A: Suspicious Abnormality Can you break down this for me.
Thanks for posting your concern on HCM! I really appreciate your concern towards the ultrasound findings. Age, duration of the problem?
I have gone through the ultrasound findings I am of the opinion that you must undergo ultrasound guided biopsy because the suspected malignant (cancer) lesions are commonly hypoechoic lesions with multi lobular margins and less vascularity.
To rule out the cancer a biopsy is essential not only to confirm the diagnosis but also to find out the hormone receptors that are over expressed on the tissue material so as to enable an effective chemotherapy.
I hope your doubt has been clarified. Take care of your health.
