General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,my name is dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.I understand your concern.
Hip pain, upper thigh or outer buttock is usually caused by problems with muscles, ligaments, tendons and other soft tissues that surround your hip joint.
I suggest you to do an x ray for further diagnosis.
Meanwhile you can use antiinflamatory medication to relieve the pain.
Hope my answer was helpful. If you have any other question Ill be glad to help.
Regards,
