What Does Severe Pain Behind The Ears Indicate?

yes. My sister, age 77, has been having pain behind her ear. It is really severe at times. She has been seen by her family doctor who thought it may be arthritis, she has been to an eye doctor who has no idea, and most recently to a dentist, who could not find any thing wrong. She is really hurting and doesn t know what to do. She does use a computer and lives in another state, so I am trying to help her. Thanks!!

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Adware pain behind ears may be due to boils or carbuncle or mastoiditis or middle ear infection or occipital neuralgia etc..

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Use tablet ultracet twice a day for five days.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
