What Does Serum Calcium Level Of 7.0mg/dl In A 3 Day Old Child Indicate?
A male child of 3Days having the Serum Calcium 7.0mg/dl, and is being treated withSyprup Calcimax 2ml twice a day along with Vit D3 drops (6 drops per day), can you please suggest whether the dosage is sufficient for the mentioned level of Serum Calcium.
As per my clinical experience, there can be various issues of low levels of calcium in a new born as congenital disorders or other metabolic derangements, endocrine disturbances as well. The recommended dosage are as per the standard pediatrician guidelines and do follow the same for a period of 1-2 months before the repeat test is carried out for follow up results.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
