What Does Ringing In The Ears Indicate?

I started experiencing ringing in my ears in 2014, now the right ear sometimes feels like there is fluid (somewhat like when swimming, but I have not been swimming). My doctor thought it might be allergy related so I use Nasocort every night but the ringing and the infrequent fluid feeling has not improved. Should I see a specialist?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the ringing in ears may indicate underlying changes in pressure involving the internal ear particularly around cochlea and hair cells responsible for the sound wave conduction and amplification.

* A viral lesion or allergy does not produce ringing in ears on long term basis and the issue must be addressed to ENT specialist for clinical examination and needed audiometry test.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
