What Does Random Episode Of Light-headedness And Racy Heart Indicate?
I was sitting at my desk and all of a sudden had a rush of blood up into my head. Made me a little light headed, so I closed my eyes and just kept breathing and I felt my heart beating a little faster than normal and then it went away. I m not on any meds but I did skip lunch which I usually don t. Any suggestions?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Priyanka's Response
Hi,
There are many potential causes of light-headedness and a racing heart, including dehydration, low blood sugar, anxiety, or an irregular heart rhythm. Skipping meals can also cause drops in blood sugar, which can lead to symptoms like these.
If it was a one-time event and you are feeling fine now, it may not be anything to worry about. However, if you continue to experience these symptoms or they become more frequent, you should consider seeing a doctor to rule out any underlying medical conditions. They may recommend doing tests such as an electrocardiogram (ECG) or blood tests to evaluate your heart function and overall health.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
