What Does "mild Cortical Atrophy" In MRI Indicate?

My wife (aged 55) has been suffering with short term memory loss, headaches & vertigo for 6 months which are becoming more frequent. An MRI shows signs of mild corticular atrophy. She also has low blood pressure & her MD is not offering any definite diagnosis. After exercise the headache abates & her mother lived till 93 & never displayed such symptoms.
