What Does Purple Discoloration On The Scrotum Indicate?

My 6 year old has a bluish purple discoloration on his scrotum and penis... Could him holding his urine in all the time cause this? What could be the cause? Not an injury my son tells me any time he gets hurt. Just recently started doing that because he was made to wear underwear to potty train. He has held in both peeing and pooping. It s been 3 weeks now... Other symptoms are tummy pain and pain in his penis. Please help.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Most probably it will be due to minor superficial infection secondary to irritant contact. As a first line management you can apply topical antibiotic like Mupirocin for symptomatic relief.

Ask to him to use loose cotton inner wear to prevent further irritation. If symptoms persists, better to consult a dermatologist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
