What Does Poster Central Disc Protrusion With Mild Cord Compression Mean?

Hi, I did have a motor vehicle accident a 2 months ago & have had pain in the upper shoulder , neck & base of skull area & since then i have had bad headaches that start from the upper neck area. I did have a number of physio treatments but with no success to relieve the pain, so i thought i d go do a MRI & the results are as follows, could you please explain to me what this means ? I can t see my doctor for another 2 weeks, thankyou. Email: YYYY@YYYY MRI Result: at the C5/6 level, there is a broadbased posterocentral disc protrusion which effaces both the anterior & posterior CSF columns & causes a mild degree of cord compression. No altered signalintensity within the cord however. The nueral forarm on both sides apear mildly stenotic with possible indentation of bilateral C6 nerve roots, more so on the left side. The facet joints appear normal on both sides. At C/6/7 level, there is a very subtle indentation on the theca sac more si in the right paracentral region. This however does not cause thecal sac compression or foraminal stenosis. The facet joints appear normal. CONCLUSION: Broadbased postercentral disc protrusion at C5/6 level with mild cord compression & mild bilateral foraminal stenosis. Subtle indentation of the thecal sac at C3/4 level not causing significant thecal sac or nerve root compression.
