What Does Pinpoint Radiation Therapy Mean?

I have chondro sarcoma tumor in my head near the optic nerves and some main arteries. I have had multiple surgeries in the past to remove other tumors located in my skull as well as proton radiation treatments. I have been told that surgery is no longer an option and since the area has already been radiated they are not so keen to use radiation treatments again. A co-worker told me about pinpoint radiation treatments so would like to know more about this.

Hi,

External radiation (or external beam radiation) is the most common type of radiation therapy used for cancer treatment. A machine is used to aim high-energy rays (or beams) from outside the body into the tumor. (The machine most commonly used is called a linear accelerator or “linac.”)

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
