What Does Pelvicalyceal Fullness On The Right Kidney Indicate?

A patient of mine has microhematuria of 3-5 and 6-8 (UA done twice). KUB UTZ showed showed mild pelvicalyceal fullness on the (R) kidney. No lithiasis nor mass lesion noted. His creatinine is 89.3. He gave a h/o renal stone when he was 5y/o according to his mom. He is now 24. He is asymptomatic. Could it possibly be due to a stricture based on his history? Do I need to request for a non-contrast CT scan? I would appreciate it so much if you could enlighten me on this. Thank you.

Hello,

He should undergo CT as it is better tested to detect stone, stricture as it is a better modality. Fullness may be due to stone. Another option is IVP.

Better is CT. What is the reason for suspecting stricture as the patient did not have a problem in intervening time and there is no history of urological surgery or catheterization?

Also get the culture and antibiotic sensitivity test done on urine.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
