Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a soft painful lump the size of a small grape on the front of my neck above the center of my collarbone. It suddenly appeared 2 weeks after a routine doctor appt that found all my lymph nodes clear. Last week I experienced what I self-diagnosed as pleurisy whereby my right lung was so painful that I couldn t lie on my back. I was also extremely tired and had a low fever. It hurt to cough due to the lump. I have pretty much resolved the illness using strong herbal anti-biotics (goldenseal, turmeric, bromelain and a few other interesting and useful herbs). Today I have more energy but still have the painful lump. What do you think it is?
In most cases, this is just a swollen lymph node which doesn't require any specific treatment.
Also, considering your description this may be some other benign subcutaneous lesion such as lipoma, fibroma or atheroma and if there are no skin changes such as redness, pus discharge or pain and fever then you should not be worried since it can be easily surgically removed under local anesthesia.
Then it there are doubts it can be sent to the patohistologic analysis.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
