Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, I keep having pain in my lower back. I had a lumbar laminectomy years back due to a fall. Lately though I am getting pain in my knee and now it has moved to my right side and I feel it coming from the area that was affected. I also am experiencing stiffness and pain in my hands like my knuckles and my left thumb but don t remember banging it.
Hello - I would ask your doctor for a MRI of the lumbar spine. Pain in the knees coming from the back can be an issue with the L4 level in your lumbar spine, and given your history of previous laminectomy, it would be best to get this area evaluated.
Hand and thumb issues can be related to carpal tunnel, issues with arthritis in the hands, or potentially an issue with "pinched" nerves in your neck.
