General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain may be due to pleuritis, which is inflammation of the pleura. The pleura is the lining of the lung. Pleuritis can occur with infection though there are other causes as well. It would be best to be assessed to rule out the more serious causes. If it is due to infection, then it would be treated with anti-inflammatory medication such as Ibuprofen or Naproxen.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
