What Does Pain In The Knees Indicate?

I am in fairly good shape and exercise or walk five days a week, but after playing Pickle ball, about three weeks ago, I now have pain in my knee in the back and the front of my knee. It was the first time I ever played Pickle ball and the fast pace was hard on my knees. I have iced it and take Advil and it seems to get better, but the next day it hurts again. I am able to walk and even go to the gym and use the oliptical machine. It doesn t hurt then, but after a while it hurts again. Do you think it will get better on it s own or could I have torn something in my knee.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It's mostly due to muscle strain from the vigorous physical activity. So you need to rest your joint. Apply cold compressors and apply topical analgesics and anti-inflammatory drugs such as Voltaren and over the counter analgesics when necessary.

If the pain got worse, you need to perform few tests in the nearest medical center including X-ray of your joint.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
