What Does Pain In The Hand After An Injury Indicate?

I fell on the ice 3 weeks ago and broke several ribs. Also hurt my hand/wrist but didn t realize the extent of it because of the rib pain so I didn t really discuss with my dr. It is still very sore (my hand) and slightly bruised. Never really got swollen but is not really improving. should I wrap it or go get an xray?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If there is no swelling, no deformity and is not very tender or not very painful, then it is very unlikely to have been a fracture and you can just wrap it or apply heat pad.

However, if any of the above symptoms is there then you should get an X-ray done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman,
